  • ? Spring 2025 American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

     

    Includes First Aid, CPR, AED, and Deep Water
    Format: Online + In-Person (Classroom & Pool)

    ? Prerequisites & Requirements

    • Minimum Age: 15 by the final session of selected course
    • Online course work completed PRIOR to first day of class
    • Swimming Skills Evaluation (both must be successfully completed):

      1. Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence (complete without stopping to rest)
        ?Jump in, totally submerge, resurface
        ?Swim 150 yards (front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both)
        ? Swim goggles are allowed
        ?Maintain position at surface of water for 2 minutes by treading water using legs only
        ?Swim 50 more yards (front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both)
        ??Swimming on back or side is not permitted for swimming portions of this skill

      2. Timed Brick Retrieval (1 min 40 sec)
        ?Starting in the water, swim 20 yards
        ?Face may be in or out of the water
        ?Goggles are not allowed
        ?
        Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7–10 feet to retrieve a 10-lb object
        ? Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point while holding the object at he surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
        ?Exit water without using a ladder or steps
    • Attendance: Students must attend all sessions of their selected course (either all days in April or all days in May) and bring food/drink for breaks.

    • Failure to attend an in-person skills session will result in no refund and not passing the course.
    • All course requirements must be completed to pass, including completing required online training PRIOR to the first class. It is suggested that you complete this well in advance.
