Emily Kaczmarczyk

CB East's Emily Kaczmarczyk was recently selected as Pennsylvania Art Education Association Studenta painting of a man looking at his older reflection Artist of the Month! All this month, Emily's work and more about her passion for art is featured on the organization's and  page.

In Emily's words, "The contest is to recognize people who show excellent citizenship in the arts. I was extremely honored when Mrs. Moriarty nominated me!"

In her nomination, CB East Art Teacher Helene Moriarty described Emily, "Emily’s dedication and passion for what she does stood out amongst her peers ever since I first taught her in 10th grade. In the classroom, Emily is hard-working and focused. She always strives to do her best and continually amazes me by her commitment to her art."

"There’s so many talented and dedicated artists in my school, so to be selected out of such an amazing group of people was touching," she added.

"I’m also so thankful to have such an amazing and dedicated teacher like Mrs. Moriarty who truly cares about all of her students and creates a safe space to really express oneself through their art."

Emily's artistic process is driven by creating when she feels inspired, "If I hear a lyric in a song that I love or see an old building along the road, I start to create the composition of the painting and then finally I start the piece," she explained.

"I also recently have been trying to create thumbnails before I start each piece to get a better gist of how I want the final piece to look."

Congratulations to Emily! #一本道PROUD
